Seriously, 03:30?!

Once again, my body decided three damn thirty was the appropriate time to wake up while on holiday! I was livid! I wanted to kick my body so damn hard! However, I didn't coz you know.. I might hurt my ankle more than I should. This time however, after about an hour of being annoyed, I managed to get back to sleep for a little bit and re-awake at a more reasonable hour.. a more acceptable holiday hour.

We had some goodness planned for the day, which was starting off with calling into Starbucks for a little coffee, which is where I got called Joan and my curse of often not getting what I order continued. For some reason, Americans find it very difficult to understand me.. I would like to say it is coz of my Kiwi accent, but the sad fact is.. that accent of mine is not strong at all. We casually made our way over to pick up some bagels from a very well recommended place.. which I must say, I found the place rather chaotic and not overly desirable for an early morning destination.. but then you know it is good stuff if the line is long and everyone wants it, right? We grabbed a couple of plain bagels with cream cheese, one was scallions and the other was herbs. Both nice, bagel was nice and rather large which made it a little difficult to eat in public and very chewy.

Anyways, once we got our bagels we headed off to check out the High Line, which is a public park that has been built on top of a rail line above the streets of Manhattan. I must admit, I am a sucker for the contrast of beautiful plantage and tall buildings. We walked along, taking snaps.. looking at the random and often odd art dotted around the place.. it was a lovely morning stroll.
Stop! picture time!

Not sure if this was truth or another odd form of art..
Maybe both?

You may notice that it is a lovely, stunning day and I have a scarf on, now this wasn't coz I was cold.. but more for the fact that the day before I had gotten rather burnt so I really wanted to cover up.. I didn't want it to get worse. I also had long sleeves on, coz well.. with a tattoo planned for Tuesday, I did not want to have burnt arms for that. I was a little warm but you adjust so all good.. they were thin.
Upon exiting the High Line we spot this..
The little car that could!

Thomas must be his best budd.. yah?
After we finished up with the High Line, we headed over to Chelsea market.. we didn't buy anything but it was nice to wander through and kill some time before heading to The Meatball Shop for lunch! Prepare for food porn!

I had the special of the day, which was veal balls & sauce while Emma had veg balls and sauce. There was a V theme happening.. V as in the letter, not the lizardy aliens! We also split a side of creamy polenta, which was quite delicious and a welcomed addition to the balls. After balls we then split an ice cream sandwich.. espresso ice cream sandwiched between snickerdoodles..
