Would you believe me if I told you that after going to sleep around 11pm that I awoke at three damn thirty? Yes, 3:30am is when my body decided that it was time to wake the frak up! Not cool, body! Don't you know we are on holiday! Gosh! We lounged in our awesome bunk beds for a few hours before getting up and pottering about to get ready and then set off to check out the rooftop, we took a few snaps.. which you can see on the Pod 39 entry.
We started off our day by heading out to the Doughnut Plant, when on holiday you must eat delicious doughnuts and the doughnut plant does delicious well! We ate in store this time.. grabbed a nice little selection, to eat in store and to take with. 4 is a good number so 4 doughnuts were consumed in store and 2 were taken for later in the day. Only 2 coz these ones were larger ones. Anyways, here is the breakfast doughnut food porn!
With our bellehs full, we headed off to catch the beauty that is Brooklyn Botanic Garden.. where we got to see beautiful cherry blossoms in bloom.. which is something that Emma has wanted to witness for many a year. It really was the perfect time for it.
We wandered around, snapping photos of all the pretty. Watching people coming and going, many parents seems to come with their kidlets, which I think is just wonderful. When we arrived there were a fair few people but it was still nice and quiet, as we went through the place.. more and more people came with more and more noise and then we discovered the school excursions. The noise that comes with classrooms full of kids is not in any way peaceful. No way, not at all! But we did manage to take some really nice snaps and if you like plants then you will enjoy the mass of nature to follow..
Tree house architect Roderick Romero created a new site-specific installation at Brooklyn Botanic Garden using wood from trees felled by Hurricane Sandy. |
Emma finally got to tick off cherry blossoming trees from her bucket list! Ain't they pretty?! |
OMG! I am drinking New York water! Not only was I taking on the traffic like a pro but I drank the water! (note: traffic in the city, not in the gardens) I am a real New Yorker now! |
I wanted to be able to feed the fishies.. |
Masses and masses of tulips! |
This amused me greatly! |
A touch of New Zealand! |
One day, I will have my own.. one day.. |
