Berlin! Say Waaaaat?!

So, we're going to Berlin in December! Pinko is heading over for December so we are gonna take to the cold streets of Berlin to paint the town light shades of pink, green & blue! However, Pinko might paint the streets of red and herself of black and blue!

We have our flights booked! Accommodation booked! Map sorted with sights and attractions, supermarkets, coffee shops and restaurants! There is even a Christmas market thrown in there for good measure! Emma really is the queen of all things travel related. We aren't the sit and do nothing types on holiday, we can do that when we are old and wrinkled with walking sticks.. until then, when we go to a new place we want to explore as much of it as possible.. not even new places really, even after how many times we have been to Boston we still stay pretty active.
Oh, Boston.. I do miss you!

Anyways, so yeah Berlin! We are going! I am excited, it should be a blast.. a cold blast but a blast all the same! Then you get a lovely set of blogs with awesome photos to enjoy and that is what makes blogs fun! The photos not the words! I would try my best to get at least one of Pinko's spectacular flails on camera.. or at the very least her hugging the pavement after the fact! Perhaps I should take some chalk and do chalk outlines! Pink chalk of course!

After we tear up the joint in Berlin, we hop a plane to Stockholm. I am rather looking forward to seeing the contrast in scenery.. seeing as we were just there in the summer, which was stunning as you might recall from my previous Stockholm blogs. We have that all booked and mapped as well. It is going to be epic! There too, is a Christmas market thrown in for good measure! Once all the fun is done and we are all battered and sore, we are going to take a lovely winter scenic train ride back home where we will have little day adventures around our immediate area. Pinko needs to see the sights of this winter wonderland.. or should that be roller coaster? We are even throwing in yet another Christmas market for good measure. Is this where I mention that I dislike Christmas markets? The things one does for visitors! I do this so you wont piss on my toilet seat!
Golden rule..

I am very much looking forward to having a week away before Christmas, we all need little trips away to lands unknown to keep us sane... or well at least out of a straight-jacket. Not much else has been happening around here, the weather is getting much colder and wetter. Nemo is getting older and crankier but still as cute as a button! Life is just plodding along like it should with no major dramas. I think this might be the calm before the Christmas storm!

Snackers!

One of the things that I love about living in Sweden is.. being able to at the drop of a hat just take a train and within a couple of hours be in another country! It might not be a big change in the culture.. but it is a different country to the one I live in. Emma and I headed over to Copenhagen yesterday, we partook in that joyous smell of pee, smokes and beer! Although, I must admit.. I didn't smell much beer smell as the pee was quite over powering at times! I guess from drinking too much beer?

The train ride over was quite packed.. the most packed I have ever in all my times seen it.. ok perhaps not quite as packed as the time many years ago when we headed over to have a picnic and listen to the Robbie Williams concert but it was quite packed, especially for a Sunday.. we were all like waaaaaaaaaaat? We had seats so it didn't matter! lol

We wandered around a bit, we came across a mega candy store.. err I mean a candy mega store, which of course meant we had to go in! Purchase stuffs we sure did! Sadly, our purchases were umm.. not as tasty as they promised to be! It was rather disappointing lol
I did come across a Mars drink! and hey guess what, it tasted just like a mars bar but in liquid form! I reckon it was one of the nommiest chocolate drinks I have had in a while. I would do anything for forget the Espresso House attempt at hot chocolate. That also reminds me that I need to make some more hot chocolate mix.. the weather is cooling off so hot chocolates will be a regular thing in this household!

We stumbled across these little bite sized things called Snackerz, which instantly reminded us of Hanky Hanna and back in 2010 when we went to Nantucket.
Sadly, these things called snackerz were not as tasty as we would have liked.. I guess you can't win them all! Sometimes things just aren't all they are cracked up to be.. much like people really! This world is so damn deceiving! LOL

In other news...
*Nemo got a new bed for the kitchen. He didn't much like it until we put his old thin mat inside it. He loves it now. Dogs are so funny. Nemo is the funniest.
*Gregory is still in his library. Every now and then I think I hear him flinging insults at me.. in Swedish. I knew I should have removed the Swedish dictionary.
*Emma is losing her mind. She keeps lighting candles and forgetting to blow them out. Luckily she has me and I remember to blow them out. We still have a home.
*We are going to see the puppy again today. Yes, be jealous. Puppy playtime!
*Winter is coming. It is starting to be too cold for shorts in the morning.

A Laughing Start!

Goodness me, it's September! Which has started off with some good food and laughs!

Emma and I headed off on Saturday afternoon to Lund for a couple of shows in the comedy festival and a lovely meat at a meaty place. This meat place was called M.E.A.T. and as you might think, it serves some real meaty goodness.. which is always a bit amusing when you walk in and then ask.. "do you have a vegetarian option?" So Emma got a quorn burger and I enjoyed a piece of black angus. We slowly chowed down on our meals, enjoying some light convo and of course beer.. or well in Emma's case a glass of rosé.

We then finished off with a coffee and a minty chocolate meringue top.. which was highly amusing after Emma and I had just had a conversation how I don't particularly like minty things. It wasn't a strong flavour so I didn't mind it.

With our bellies full we headed off to the first show.. or well to the chaos first. Honestly, one would think that they had never held anything in this place before, there was no order whatsoever.. people were pushing and shoving and it was just plain stupid... and it was damn hot! I felt like I was sweating buckets! I also felt like I was a tomato!

Eventually we got in and got our seats and the first part of the show seemed to be, us watching the boy with tape on his face watch us come in! I watched him and thought.. wow, he must have really good breathing. You know, being all up on stage, just sitting there waiting patiently, with all the fake smoke being blown around everywhere lol Once everyone was seated, the show could really get into full swing! I wont go into details as to what exactly happened in the show but I will say this.. If you get the chance, spend the money and go and see it. Bloody hilarious. I would even see it again. My cheeks hurt from laughing, it was great. Here is the linkage to his website.. [link]

Afterwards we headed off, we had time to kill, the weather was getting a little chilly so we ducked into an Espresso House for a cup of hotness.. which turned out to be a cup of grossness. A babies bottle of milk is warmer than what they served. If you can't get something as simple as a hot chocolate done nicely then I shudder to think what anything else is like. Suffice to say, I shall never set foot in an Espresso House again.

Before we knew it, it was time to go to see David Sedaris.. this venue was a nicer venue, so therefore people seemed to act a little more upclass and there was no pushing and shoving. It was a welcome relief. We enjoyed David speaking, he really does have a knack for relaying stories and his Swedish wasn't too bad at all. The shitting in the hand story is pure gold though so I pose this question.. Have you ever shat in your hand to then lower it into the toilet to stop that splashing sound from happening? Coz apparently people do it, and it is more common than you might think!

Afterwards, we stood in line for aaaaaaages and Emma got a couple of books signed, he drew a turtle in one and told her he liked her hair in the other. He is a rather funny guy and it was quite the end to a good evening of laughs.. why can't there be a comedy festival on every week?

Just an added little funny that I saw as I walked in to use the ladies.. they had a shoe shine machine at the door! The even funnier part was.. someone had used it as I departed the ladies. I was amused. Old school amused at that!

And what is a day without ducks.. not fun that's what! While in Lund, I discovered this little family of ducks making its way out of a little tunnel.. family day out perhaps?

On Sunday, we got to meet the new addition to the clan.. his name is Arran, a little German Shepard puppy. Very damn adorable! He wasn't too sure of everyone to start with but with a little time he will be running the joint. [instagram photo]

Good start to September I reckon, hopefully it means more good to come!
