Photo Dump!

Seeing as I have been a super slack blogger about all the good, bad and the ugly things that go with being new parents, I figure I may as well reward you with a good old photo dump! You're welcome!

Mikkel thinks he's playing the flute..
I haven't the heart to tell him..
it's a bone.

While the baby sleeps..

An autumny day out..

and smile!

and stare.

Watching!

Babies in jeans.
& the bulldog jumper that we bought over 3 years ago.

Mikkel be like..
"maaaaaaaa! what ya doin'?"

Apparently, he doesn't want to be a pilot.

Mikkel wishing this toy was his.

and smile.

Why so serious, boys?!

Cruising with ma!

Definitely!
and again.. babies in jeans!

"Ma! that tickles!"

Strike a pose!

Julius thinks Mikkel is all the hilarious!

My boy, so pretty with his posing.

what a darling!

Mikkel says give us a wave!

Just my little family hanging on the couch..

And lastly..
our very first family portrait!

Halloweeny!

Emma got her mad skillz out and carved a pumpkin (as well as stabbing the tiny saw under her nail) and we did a little photo shoot with the boys for Halloween.. here are a few of the fun takes.. clearly Julius, the Wookie is all about the lean!

Mikkel the Ewok be like..
"what is this?!"

Timberrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

He very nearly connected with the pumpkin,
but my quick hand got in on the act
and saved that beautiful face from impact!
Yep, I've always been a hero! I do have a cape after all! hahaha

Sometimes balancing on ones butt is hard.

This was the winner for posting..
Emma posted it here.. [instagram]

We were running through model facials and this one is..
deer in headlights.

Sometimes.. looking in the same direction is hard.

Mikkel was all about the hilarity of the situation!

Scheduled!

Today marks the day that my son was due to be born... he had other ideas and came 10 weeks early. I think he did it on purpose just so that I would have to have a burger for midsummer instead of all the glorious midsummer food I usually partake in. I didn't even get strawberry cake this year! Already a little poo!

We celebrated by taking... erm attempting to take his hand and foot print. The foot turned out alright but the hand..
Well.. as you can see it turned into more a fist and then pinch with all fingers. Have I mentioned how much stronger he gets every single day! It was not a fun task and not something I ever want to have to go through again.

He celebrated the day by pooing up a storm.. which made us all happy.. especially that no one wore any of it, nor did his rug! He got his (new) rug just last week. He has some mad pooing skillz, when he poos that is.

Photos by Emil.

Emil, someone who is going to teach our son all about the art of brewing (who doesn't know that yet), came around to meet the little dude and while here, he took some lovely pictures..

Dude be like... story telling!

Dude be like... eating! (what he does best!)

Dude be like... chilling!

And this dude be like... Oh HAI!

And additionally, the moustached devils!

Time Flies!

Time sure does fly on past with a new little man in the house! I am not quite sure where it all goes, it certainly doesn't go on sleep!

This past week was a big week for us, out and about pretty much every day doing something. Julius continues to grow and we know this by his, currently, weekly check up with the district nurse. He hit a big 50cm and 3.3kg on Wednesday. He certainly grows well! Then on Thursday with the neonatal check up and vaccination, he was up another 100g! Big strong healthy boy! It's hard to remember how fragile (but still quite healthy) he was back when he was born. He has a great double chin and everything now and wrist rolls!

He didn't overly enjoy his vaccinations, one in each leg. The neonatal nurses tag teamed him. He screamed for all of a few seconds, coz he's tough. He is my son after all! haha

Then to add insult to injury, we had to head over to the eye doctor, where we got to have the final eye test done. We had to have one more coz he was a whole freaken day short of 37 weeks on the last exam. So stupid. But it is done now, and his eyes are fine so that is all that matters.

And now for a little photo dump of the cutest non-furry dude in my life..

and also the cutest furry dude in my life.. who is all like.. oh noes! I can't reach my doggie!
He often likes to push things off the couch and have you pick them up again for him.

We are definitely looking forward to being able to do more than short walks and hanging out at home with him but for now, we are quite content with getting used to this whole parenting thing at home.. especially with how much the little dude likes to eat.

Who's a Big Boy?!

Julius is!
The little dude had his first home visit check up with the nurse yesterday and the weigh machine got broken out and he went up a good amount from the previous week and is now sitting pretty at 2810g! Then he promptly peed upon the scales. That's my boy!

We have had a pretty good week with Julius with getting out and about, he is getting more and more used to being in the pram.. but he doesn't much like it when it is too still. Either by not moving or because we are rollin' on something far too smooth.

He also got rather spoilt.. again! By many, but one package was from Grandma in New Zealand, she sent over a bunch of awesome things, one being a tummy time mat! He is already getting his unco skillz on and changing positions. It's adorable to see and also impressive how much he can wriggle up or down it. Today, Mikkel rolled on his back (I guess dogs don't understand tummy time! hehe) and tried to play with him on his tummy time mat and it was all the adorbs! Mikkel still continues to impress me with how gentle he is with him.

Also in the package was an All Blacks onesie... however, he is rather unimpressed abut wearing it as it gives him no neck! haha As you can see..

& Then There Were 4!

It has been many many months since I have sat down and put my fingers to keys to actually tap out a blog, not much has happened but at the same time, a lot has happened! The very most memorable part of what has happened is.. the birth of my son!
7 weeks ago today, my son, Julius came crashing into this world. 10 weeks too early. Which meant, we got to spend a whole 5 weeks and 2 days in the NICU/neonatal unit with him. While it sounds like a long time, it was a lot less than what they were thinking it would be.. but our boy is one strong little dude! Cute to boot!

We had our ups and downs in the unit, but we left with positive feelings thanks to one very great nurse, who actually took notice and even listened to us and then made the changes our son needed to be able to come home and live a happy life with us in his own space and for us to start the parenthood journey for realz! And to not have to look at another microwave meal again!

We are looking forward to experiencing all the firsts, like the first time he pooped on us. Now he is a little Poo Cannon, where if we aren't careful, one ends up looking like this..
It has happened to me 4 times, he has fired a few more times than that but has missed me! He has yet to hit Emma. This tells me, Emma needs to change more nappies!

We had our first walk together as a family of four, after many days of being home and cooped up inside away from the pissing down rain! Not only was it our first stroll as a family but also the first use of our stroller! And it handled better than I could ever have dreamed! Love it!

It is going to be quite the ride, this adventure.. I think it is going to be lots of fun, along with some hard work of course but I think the good will definitely outweigh the hard or horrible, especially when you throw in some good beer! Speaking of, on May 1st, I once again went to Copenhagen Beer Celebration and partook in some lovely lovely beers, and some not so lovely beers. I got to try a feijoa beer all the way from New Zealand and oh my lord, it was all kinds of delicious. I wished I could get my hands on it again, I had two tasting glasses with the lads from 8 Wired and if I am honest, I could have just spent the entire day with them and that keg. 8 Wired's Wild Feijoa Sour Ale is all the deliciousness! I did however try another great sour, and that was this sea-buckthorn sour and it had the most delicious taste and colour..

That outing to CBC was the last I got to have before the pregnancy really took the forefront and Emma got put on bed-rest, then came 6 weeks of being a slave to the lady! It was very tiring until we got into a rhythm and then I guess even Julius was sick of the bed-rest and decided enough was enough. He arrived and we had nothing set up for him, we had a Bugaboo Stroller on order, it arrived just before we got to go home! Phew! In the 5 weeks we were in the hospital, we managed to get the room ready for his homecoming and fill it with all the things required. It still isn't quite finished but it's kid-like enough to pass as an awesome baby room.

Mikkel found things tough with Emma being on bed-rest, he didn't get as much play time and walk time with her and that also meant less play time with the awesome Leia, which we have rectified now that we are home with sending him there for a couple of days to play his little heart out! He has come home today, very tired and VERY happy! And speaking of Mikkel, he loves his new little furless brother and is so sweet with him! We really have gotten lucky with this little family.

I hope to find more time to do some blogs of the parenthood adventure, but in between, one can always keep up to date with instagram photos from both Emma and I.. [link to instagram tag]
