Hello Goodness!

Em and I headed off into the city festival (which up until I was there, I thought was just a music festival.. whoops.. it's only taken 5 years for me to find out differently!) to catch some tunes and foodage.

We arrive.. and feeling hungry we headed off to walk around the food stalls to pick something to eat, Em had already decided on having a crepe.. or well I should say galette, coz you know they are made of buckwheat but it just doesn't have the same ring to it when you say that you are creeping up a galette! Mine had some chook in it, among other things and Em's had pear in it, among other things.. both quite good.. and a mighty good way to start the evening. [photo of stall] [photo of my goodness] We also partook in a glass (plastic cup) of carbonated organic apple juice.

With our belleh's semi satisfied.. we headed off to have a little more look after and of course take on the English Store, so that I could get some positively awesome canned sketti.. sketti and eggs on toast was totally on the menu for Saturday morning! But no.. to my total and utter disappointment.. when I walked into the store I discovered that the shelf where my beloved sketti should be was.. horrifyingly empty! *gasp* I felt my heart just shatter into a million pieces.. and then when I enquired as to when new stock shall be arriving.. I got the earth shattering news that it would be about a month! A MONTH! *sigh* I picked up the millions of pieces of my heart, along with a can of really fucking good lemonade and headed off to try and enjoy what was left of my evening out. Lemonade helps heal broken hearts.

We had a little walk around.. taking in all that glorious noise that comes with a festival. Stopping by the chocolate mousse [food photo] tent and grabbing some mousse that was good but not the bestest I have ever had.. it was all gone before I knew it.. but just in time for the churros [food photo] to arrive! We walked around a little more while eating the churros until we headed towards the bottle store, where I picked up 4 beers to try, ok 3 to try, 1 being a cherry beer! Say waaaaaaat!? What is the fourth you say? Well, it was none other than another banana bread beer! With our beer safely packed away in Em's backpack, we went and parked up by the water and fluffed, gasbagged, laughed and maybe farted until we decided to go and sit in a bar and enjoy a alcoholic beverage, [photo of me beer & Em rose]. The place wasn't too bad and it was nice to be in a bar that didn't play excessively loud music. I think we might actually head back to that place again.. and perhaps even grab a burger there as well.. as I saw someone else order one and it didn't look too bad at all. OmNomNom!
Those Dancing Days were due to start, so off we toddled back to the water, instead of standing in the crowded drunken mess. We got good sound over there and we could hear ourselves think.. BONUS! We kicked back, mucking about.. taking photos of course of whatever we could. Here's my oh darn, my house is sinking look..

Kurt Vile was up next.. and with him, came my chance to have a slushy! Which of course gave me a slight blue tinge to my tongue [photo goodness].. to match my eyes as someone so kindly pointed out.. perhaps I should do it more often? It's good to match right? However, with slushy always comes head freeze.. which Em so kindly took a photo of instead of.. well nothing really.
You sure do need to catch these moments on camera right?

As the head freeze cleared and Kurt finished up.. we headed off down to the train where I so kindly held my ticket upside down to the ticket lady and thought what the hell is she on about when she asked me to turn it the right way lol.. whoooops! mah bad! The train came.. we jumped on, took out seats and endured the long dark journey home.. where you can see I was thrilled to pieces! [thrilling photo]

We made it home all in one piece, Nemo was pleased to finally have us back safe in his paws and we headed off to sleep the night away to start a whole new Friday! Yes that's right kids, us party animals were out on a Thursday night! We aren't ready for the old folks home just yet!

Hello Hunter!

And so begins another week.. this Monday has started off very very grey and unhappy looking.. weather gods don't make me kick you.

What have I been up to you wonder? Well let me tell you.. it has been action packed!
We went blackberry hunting.. the fruit, not the phone! We managed to track and capture a few handfuls.. which we then ate right by its lair.. just to show them who was boss! Here's is a little trophy photo of the little buggers!

I also tracked and hunted this awesome specimen.. once captured, I put them to work right away.. on my foots! [click me for the most awesome specimen]

It was quite the hunting weekend really.. we headed out to whoop whoop.. aka Em's bro's place for his birthday dinner.. where the hunting really went well! There were masses of giant fishies.. seeing as tho there was already food captured and cooking we left these giants in the wild until next time! I gave them warning I would be back.. they mocked me.

I caught a whiff of something in the air.. and I just had to investigate! Which is where I came across a tree.. with 4 types on apples on it.. however the slippery little things managed to evade capture.. maybe I will have better luck next time! I think the blackberries sent them a warning using their blackberry phones! I never thought blackberry and apple would work SO well together! I guess things will do anything to not get captured in the wild by this crazy kiwi!

While I was taking a much needed break from all the hunting and exploring of zee vild.. I was standing around with Em, when she spotted a little froggy hopping across the grass and onto the concrete.. where we managed to take a few photos.. even tho it is quite the quick little shit.. as soon as I would get focused.. it hopped off! SO annoying! So we captured the little thing and took a few photos.. you know for the trophy books.. we had every intention of letting it go.. we just needed to document it! [click me for a pic of the little cute froggy] Anyways.. as Em was holding it.. it decided that it had had quite enough and leaped from her hand.. all the way to the ground. I deny I made any noise when this happened. But I will admit that it was quite the funny sight with the little froggy leg stretched right out until it hit the ground.. hopped to safety under a planter.. it was still mighty curious and poked its little froggy head out.. as you can see here.. [click me]

After all the hunting and carrying on.. I had worked up quite the appetite so I retired for the evening and settled in to eat, drink and be merry.. and talk about the upcoming turkey hunting that shall happen in Nov! I'm thinking I might just need to make a cape for such an occasion.. Em thinks not. Even when I promised to wear my undies on the inside not the outside! I do hope I see one fly.

Hello Beer!

As we all know I do enjoy trying new beers.. so when Em spotted this little banana beauty in the Malmö bottle store.. we just couldn't pass up the chance to wrap my lips around it and tantalise or torture my taste buds! Actually Em even took a sip.. you'll have to ask her for her verdict.

The write up on the bottle says..

"Long ago, ale was known as liquid bread. We've used our long history of creating the finest malt blends and added fair-trade bananas to awaken the senses with a seriously fruity, rich yet surprisingly versatile banana bread beer"
..and..
"An inspired brew made with our own natural mineral water and fair-trade bananas. Tempting banofee aromas and flavours are balanced by the silky richness of a masterful malt blend and the peppery spice of the freshest ripest hops"

Now isn't that enough to make you want to pick it up, take it home and just give it a whirl?

Anyways.. moving on to my first sip.. there was quite the distinct taste of bananas. It was very very interesting. It was almost unexpected even though everything suggests it would have that banana hint and it is made with actual bananas.. so why wouldn't it be banana tasting.. almost reminds me of the incident with the chocolate beer in Barcelona.

It's a light, crisp and quite the tasty beer.. With each mouthful the palette goes bananas! Freaking bananas!

It has quite the sweet tone to it but not undrinkable sweet.. or soda sweet. A beer I could definitely drink again.. but not a beer that I could drink more than one bottle of now and then.. unlike the lemon beer I tried in Amsterdam that tasted like freaken toilet cleaner. That shit just shouldn't even be bottled! I'll never drink that one again.. however I'll totally be willing to try every other lemon beer that I come across... or well any beer come across!

Not a beer for everyone.. I mean really you can say that about all beers but if you are a little open minded and not a complete snob then I think you would find this beer quite the monkey maker! I quite enjoyed the little banana burps once I had polished off the brew.. I'm quite awesome like that! Also.. I quite like the idea of having one of my 5 a day as a beer.. wouldn't you? coz.. surely it would be included right?

Hello Bikers!

Monday again.. weekend over and done with again... these things just seem to go too fast at times. Sometimes they feel a little sluggish too.. like this guy who I saw on my morning walk with Nemo.. I think I took a very good shot here.. I am way proud of it so I'm gonna pimp it here! Check out my photo maaaaaan! [click me for the most awesome-est slug pic EVER] See it at its largest to really see it! lol

Taking that pic was quite the way to start my weekend really.. put me in rather a good mood. Who would of thought that seeing a slug would put someone in such a good mood right? It also amused me at how while I was taking more pics of it.. it was coming for the iphone lol and Nemo was trying to stand on it.. not realising that it was actually there.. he just wanted to get the frak away and walk.. enough of these shenanigans he said!

After a little pottering we got into our Saturday groove and got foodage shopping done before heading to town to buy a new suitcase for the upcoming trip! Or well not just for that trip, we needed a new one and wanted one that was a good height and had those awesome wheels that go every way which way! So now, we have this spunky suitcase to rock out.. and the best thing is that my duffle bag will fit perfectly on top of it when we are rolling it around.. it's like it was meant to be! [click me for the suitcase pic.. you wont be sorry!]

Then we rolled around town with our newly aquired suitcase, strawberries and limes and headed to the booze store to pick up some more.. Bundy Ginger Beer of course, along with a couple other things, just another one of those malt drinks and beer.. nothing special.

We also finally went and got some mint plants so that we can make that very awesome drink that we got the booze for the weekend before.. I even remembered to make ice.. but do you think we remembered to make the drink? No. We are that good! lol

We also stumbled across some kinda of motorbike with side car meet.. so we stopped, waved and took a few photos which didn't turn out the best coz we were in a darkish sort of area. Shame really. But here is one of the few anyways...

Sunday was a pretty lax day.. with it raining for most of the day. I finally got around to attempting to make a Piri Piri sauce.. which I so carefully managed to forget I had piri piri chili goodness on my fingers when I rubbed my nose.. so once again I had that very lovely burning sensation! gosh I'm clever! Let's hope my sauce actually works and it was worth that little afternoon of burning..

Looks like the festival is starting up this week here.. which means a little langos! a little asia corner.. and a lot of..
"Arrrrreeeee yooooouuu rrreeeeeeeaaaaaddddyyyyyyy?"
and lots of loud repetitive music lol I do kinda love this time of year and hate it all at the same time. Hopefully it doesn't rain all week like the forecast says.

Hello Holiday!

So it's done! It's booked! It's paid for!
Em and I are gonna take off to New York on the 18th November for a fab few days exploring and eating our way through the city! There is in particular a donut place.. no sorry plant!! that we are eager.. very eager to get our chops wrapped around! The donuts that is.. not the plant!

As you well know, my Em is the queen of planning and puts lots of research in and comes up with all sorts of goodies to eat and do while on trips. I would certainly be lost without her.. and quite possibly have rather boring do nothing but lounge around in hotel rooms using free wifi.. which isn't why we go on holiday! We go to explore and test the limits on what our old bodies can handle! Anyways.. Em has already put together a map of New York full of everything we could possible think of and more.. not that we will be able to do everything on there.. but it will be nice to be able to go.. ok I'm here.. what is there to in this area!? and then just do it.. no humming.. no haring.. just doing! and god help me no dawdling!

After a couple of days and nights, we shall then head off to Boston and settle into a little week of Boston life.. I sense a big feast of that meaty meat meat pizza coming on! Hells yeah! There shall be shopping.. there shall be tattoo's.. there shall be resting! There shall be a tub of cheeseballs! There shall be thanksgiving! There shall be fat pants! There shall be recovering! There shall be FUN! There shall also be more shopping! That's right, Bitchez!

Yes believe it or not I do enjoy a little shopping from time to time.. especially when I can go into shops that we don't have.. coz after all what is the point of shopping in stores you can shop in when you are in your own country? Booooring! I don't like it as much as Em.. granted, but I do like to get a little shop on.

All in all I am really excited about this trip.. I love having something to look forward to.. but in saying that I really wanna go now! Me and patience.. not really the best of friends. And now I must go and look for tattoo ideas.. o how excitement!

Hello August!

August is upon us.. and to be honest I am really grateful that the horrible weather month of July is over.. maybe August will be a touch nicer to this little kiwi? I wont hold my breath but a girl is allowed to dream right? Ok, so the weather hasn't be ALL horrible.. there just happens to have been much more grey and wetness than I would like.. the temps have been quite liveable and at least we haven't had any sleepless night coz of the heat.. as Em kindly pointed out. Very good point.

We had a glimmer of hope that is was going to be a stunning day on Sunday.. but it lasted as long as it took Em to walk Nemo... in the morning. We had a different kind of stunning day with the making of macarons. Em's idea, coz as we all know.. I am not the biggest fan of them. I didn't think we did a too shabby job but I would definitely make changes if we were to make them again.. or perhaps find a different recipe for the actual shell...
They turned out quite eatable.. so eatable in fact.. Em ate a little too many of them and even popped a few of them in her gobhole this morning before heading off to work.. they are quite small so don't think she is some kind of piggy by eating a few.. they kind of remind me of oversized popcornies! Popcornies that just melt in your mouth! Come on over if ya wanna try them out.. but be fast.. I suspect the wont last long at all.

Moving back in time further.. I bring you Saturday! We did all the usual stuff and fluffed around and then headed into Malmö to catch a Swedish flick that Em wanted to see. I think she just wanted to test my Swedish abilities to the limit! Which I passed.. coz I'm awesome! It wasn't too bad a flick at all.. the chairs however were still on the top of my list for worst and today I feel like my back will snap but I'll get over it. Anyways back to the movie.. I think the best part of it wasn't something that happen in the movie, but what I did during a very silent part at the end of a sexy scene.. I knocked over the pringles can! Luckily the pringles were all eaten but it was very loud and very funny.. and Em of course shook her head at me.. as she usually goes when I do something silly.. which I usually do.. coz I'm the best! And speaking of bests.. I was once again highly amused at having to use the back door to leave the movie place.. it almost makes me feel like I have been to see some snuff film or something lol.

Upon arriving in Malmö.. we first noticed that something might be up by this sight...

Turns out there was a soccer match on.. and then.. we stumbled across the food festival! Where I picked up some stroopwafels from the Holland stall and we continued to mosey on through. Sadly however, NZ was not represented.. Australia was but not little NZ. I felt a little ripped off.. maybe I should start an NZ food revolution here! Em made the comment that maybe NZ wasn't here coz there was no dirt to cook in! She might actually be right! lol

We looked around the town, checked out a few shops.. stopped by The English Shop, picked up a couple of goodies.. and of course a can of sketti.. which will make one delightful breaky of sketti and eggs on toast on weekend morning. Life is pretty darn good really.. altho EuroDuck was most unimpressed at being left at home on Saturday so he isn't feeling like life is good at all.

Friday.. Em finished up a little early and we decided to have a little drinkies in the afternoon! I know! Shocking.. and I discovered that not only is Em quite the happy drunk.. she is also quite the dancy drunk AND quite the slappy drunk! She kept slapping me.. playful slaps of course.. she doesn't wear wifebeaters! I must say though, she got me good a couple of times. Revenge will be sweet.. and unexpected. Be warned little girl.. I'm coming for you! Muahahahahaha

All in all I think it was a pretty good weekend.. and a good note to end July on..
Speaking of good notes.. here's a little photo of the adorable Nemo! He just keeps getting cuter! It's all about the snout!
