fritz-kola

May is nearing an end.. it is hard to believe that this time last year we were on EuropeTrip2011, half way through actually and in Lisbon.. where the weather wasn't the greatest on the first day, Em and I got totally drenched while out exploring! We definitely had loads of fun getting drenched.. I would do it all over again too.. coz weather shouldn't dampen a holiday or force one to only see the inside of a hotel/motel/guesthouse/b&b etc The following day I actually got rather burnt coz the sun was beating down even though the clouds were trying to keep it at bay! Can never trust that pesky weather right? Today.. its not the nicest day outside and it looks like it might pelt down, whereas yesterday it was a lovely day here.. the opposite of last year in fact lol Thinking of Lisbon really gives me a craving for some more Piri Piri chicken.. even tho it makes me cry! FYI.. piri piri up ya nose.. not that fun of an experience! #justsayin

Emma was in Dresden, Germanland last week for work, so it was just Nems and I hanging out.. he was a bit of a sadsack but these things happen. He is all happy again now that Emma is home. So he is back to his always crying for her attention.. now that was something I did not miss while she was away. He was so silent.. apart from one time when I felt sorry for him and took him for a nice long walk in the park.. around and around.. let him do whatever he wanted.. and then once we are home, he decides that he is going to cry ALL evening. Seriously wtf doggie?! He was back to his not crying sadsack self by the morning.
Anyways.. so while Em was in Dresden, she tried a coffee cola and I was like.. "ooo, bring me one home" and she was all like.. "no. I can't!" and so I was sad! but I got over it coz I am way good at getting over things.. and so I didn't think of it again.. and then Emma finally comes home and unpacks and pull out a bottle of the stuff! The little trickster!
I have drunken it, and I have to say that I rather enjoyed it. It was rather interesting.. I would definitely drink it again. Not an every day type drink but a nice drink to have when out with friends and not wanting to have a boozy beverage. I have even placed the bottle cap on my cork-board! Along with the Hale cap. I'm creating art with my cork-board! Just like I create art with my black-board! Yeah, I'm an artist now. Artists are cool. Bahahahahahahahahaha

Em also brought back a new spideyhant mug from Copenhagen airport for me! I was well stoked coz I was a clumsy mofo and broke my previous one and it was quite heart breaking.. but now I have a replacement that I am currently too scared to use! LOL When we go back through the airport to go to London, Em and I have to pick up an elephant mug for Pinko, she doesn't want to be all left out when she comes to stay at the end of the year.. I might just have to find one that has a clown on it! You would love that forever.. right Pinko? lol

I wanna go to London now.. but at least it gives me something to look forward to.. we have our map all sorted! We have all the must see's.. like an original police box! (aka broken down TARDIS), Paddington bear and Nando's! LOL I am very much looking forward to having an action packed few days in London with Em.. and then coming home and having a not so action packed few days with Em and Nemo in Stockholm.. family trips FTW! Before Em went to Germanland, we had a little family day out.. for those that don't follow me on instagram.. here are the photos that came from said day out!
[click me] Waiting for the train..
[click me] On the train we discover a Converse shoe family!
[click me] "put me down already!!"
[click me] Gotta get the coffee fix!
[click me] Checking out the Turning Torso (I still wanna live there)
[click me] Looking out over the water..
[click me] Nemo is trying his hardest to ignore the water.
[click me] Swedish lifeguards.. hot stuff!
[click me] Home time!
[click me] A tuckered little Nemo!
[click me] Baby ducks complete the day!
[click me] Actually no, discovering the burn completes it.
And let's just throw in a little video for shits and giggles of Nemo doing what Nemo does best.. crying. [click for YouTube video] Ok.. here is another of him doing another thing he does best! [click for YouTube video]

Hopefully he doesn't spend all the time in Stockholm crying.. but there is lots of water there.. and not being able to go into the water is what makes him cry the most. Yet, he hates baths! Such a boy!

Screamer!

This morning started off like any other Monday morning.. the alarm goes off, I scream in my head "nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo", Emma turns the alarm off and gets out of bed, I lay there still screaming in my head, I get up & ask Emma if she wants coffee, the answer is often yes. I make coffee and her lunch, I go and lay on the couch and play on my phone until Emma comes and gives me half of her coffee, its time to go so I go and get some outside clothes on.. and this my friends is where things start to go from the norm to terrifying! I put my jacket on.. I go to put my shoes on and I see something move from just under my shoe.. but think I am just seeing things so I continue to go and put my shoe on and then I see something move more! LOTS more! I jump and I scream! I scream loud! I scream loud like a little girl terrified of some giant scary monster! So loud in fact that my scream echoes in the stairwell. My door is actually closed. My heart is racing as Emma barks orders at me to get stuff for her so she can deal with the spider. The kinda big for Sweden spider but small for most places spider. She traps it in a glass, uses newspaper to help cart it to the window where she dumps it out.

Now that is one way to get the heart pumping on a Monday morning! #amiright?
This however is no normal Monday morning, so I shouldn't be surprised that it didn't go as per usual. This Monday is in fact also Hump Day.. as it is one very short work week indeed! Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.. Emma will be home with little Nemo and I and we will tear this joint up! Not really.. we might just take a little family outing to Malmö to check out the scene.. Nemo in tow of course, as he is going to be very Sad come Sunday when he realises that Emma is going to Germanland for the week and he is stuck at home with his shitty mummy! He loves me I swear.. he just loves Emma more.

As I sit here and type this up, I still feel like I have spiders crawling all over me.. and its been a good 2 hours since the spidershit went down! Which also reminds me.. just as we were about to walk out the door downstairs, Emma very kindly uttered the words "watch out!" at me as I was about to step through and of course it make me jump and freeze a little.. no screaming this time.. out.loud. She can be such a tart sometimes.

Speaking of tart.. Yesterday, Em and I biked around to the parentals to have a little rhubarb crumble and as per usual.. it was delicious! I do loves me some rhubarb. My mother actually makes the yummiest rhubarb slice I have ever devoured. Perhaps when I ever make it back to NZ, rhubarb will be in season and I can con her into whipping one up for me. So anyways, while at the parentals, it was a lovely day and so we sat outside in the sun eating said crumble and watching Affe bring his carrot toy outside when he wasn't allowed.. repeatedly. Amusing to say the least! and then we biked on home and that's where it was discovered that I had received my first sunburn of the year.. it's not much.. and of course as per usual.. I manage to get a silly burn.. one side, one shoulder, one small area! Every year I seem to do it.. whether its half a hand or goggleface! At least this sunburn is rather mimimal... but it is my first of the year so I'm well proud coz it means that it sunny times! and that my friends.. is exciting!

The Big Reveal!

In my previous post.. I mentioned how we had purchased something from the Museum of Modern Art and I would reveal it at a later stage.. and this my friends, is the later stage! Which will make Pinko rather happy as she was getting rather impatient..

*drum roll*

BAM! & there you have it.. isn't that the most awesome mounted deer head trophy around?! We had to wade through some real shit to capture this specimen!

Hello May!

May already?! Really?! Really?! I can't seem to keep up or track of time these days! It just zoom zoom zoooms! So what have I been up to lately? Not all that much really.. but I did manage to go and check out a flick on Saturday night.. which  I was rather excited to see.. and it turned out to be a major let down. What movie you ask? The Avengers I reply! I found it to have far too much talking and totally failed to see the point of 3D. Everyone knows I am not a fan of 3D to start with.. but really.. 3D for all that talking? I love Joss and nearly all things Joss.. but I just couldn't really enjoy The Avengers. It saddened me. Perhaps I would have enjoyed it more without having to endure the torture of wearing the 3D glasses. To be honest, I sat for some of the movie with it off, coz there was that much talking.. why did I even need to see the screen at that point? It is the first movie in a long time that I have actually wanted to walk out of. I didn't tho, I stayed and put up with it and saw it through.. which I was glad to coz I got to see the 2 funniest Hulk moments ever! That part was worth it indeed. I love the Hulk.. who wouldn't? he is green after all!

Sunday, Emma and I jumped on our bikes and headed out by the lake where they have this section of marsh lands, which is in fact the last step in the sewage treatment plant! See it even says so on the sign!
They have quite a few different types of wildlife calling it home.. and it is always nice to take a stroll around and look at the nature and beginning of new life.. and of course I always get excited to see baby animals.. we saw some baby geese and it was awesome.. simply awesome. I am such a softy.. who isn't?

Moving onto Monday.. where it was time to break out some fire! That's right, it was time for all of Sweden to light up the joint! First up tho.. we headed to the parentals for a BBQ, where Emma's mum asked if my kiwi bird was a porcupine.. and my tuatara was a frog.. and not to mention if my weta was a grasshopper.. Rather amusing to say the least, but given she has never seen or even heard (heck, even spell check doesn't know what a tuatara or weta is!) of these animals I have tattooed upon me, it is no wonder.. so really they are good guesses.

After we ate some food & drunk some booze, we headed off up to check out the bonfire.
We took a few snaps and then headed back for some more eatage! This time of the sweet variety, before having to cut it short to bike on home, we had to leave before it got too dark.. coz I don't have a working light on mah bike. Sad. Need to get that sorted one of these days. How awesome would it be to have a red dalek light on the back? So awesome is how awesome!

Tuesday, Emma thought it was about time we got our culture happening and so we headed off to the land of Danes to check out Louisiana Modern Museum of Art. Now you might be wondering what is the difference between a museum of art and a gallery.. don't be fooled into thinking that they are one in the same. It's not just that us Europeans (yes, that's right I call myself European now! coz I legally can! & not coz I just so happen to have European relatives, but coz I am an actual citizen of a European country!) get things muddled in translations.. they are two different things! That's right Pinko! Now what is that difference you ask.. well let me tell you! A museum is in fact just a place where you go to view art.. and a gallery is a place where you go to view art yes, but from the perspective of being able to purchase the art. Yep, simple as that and basically what I thought to start with. I wasn't 100% on it, and after having the discussion with ole Pinko, I just had to find out and so find out I did, and now I share my little tidbit just in case there is anyone else out there who might wanna know too.. I'm wicked nice like that!

Moving on from that and onto the actual art in said museum.. now while it is interesting to walk around and take in that stuff.. I find myself looking at many things and going.. "who decides that this is art? how is this art?" I get that everyone views art differently.. and some people just have that 'mind' for art, but I can't look at something that looks like just scraps of material and say.. omg that is amazing art! or even look at a painting that is just of lots of paint and colours layered upon one another.. that makes no real anything but looks like lots of.. I don't even have a word to describe it. I just didn't get how that was art. at all.

The most interesting thing about that place was watching people go right up close to this so called art to really take it in.. what they were taking in exactly.. I don't know. but these people could stand and stare at these strange little pieces of art for longer than I could read a book. I guess I am just not an art head.. and I don't even pretend to be.. I doubt I could even pull off being any type of art head! I like what I like and I guess that really is the fact of the matter of art right? I just want to know the thought process behind what makes some things art.. maybe one day someone will sit me down and give me a good lesson of how to understand all types of art, how to recognise something as a masterpiece.. heck maybe one day even my DrawSomething drawings will be classed as art and put up in a museum!

Anyways.. here are a few photos of the areas where we were allowed to take photos. Inside the museum was a no no for photos.. they had an old dude walking around and if he saw you taking a photo he would give you a stern look and say with a stern voice "no photos!" Amused, I was!

Emma and I enjoyed some lunch and then headed outside to sit on some steps and enjoy the ocean.. it was such a beautiful day.. it was in all sense and purposes quite a perfect day.. as much as I don't really understand what makes some things art, I do enjoy every now and then going to look and take in all the strange things I don't understand.. and people can tell by just looking at me that I just don't quite get it.. and I'm not embarrassed of that.. at least I am still looking and kinda learning something.. you know that everything is art. The world is just one big canvas really.. isn't it?

All in all I had a wonderful day out.. I couldn't have asked for a better day. I may have had to spend 4 hours in a train but it was well worth it.. and as we were leaving we stopped by the giftshop and picked up a little something thing.. that came in this bag!
To know what it is you will have to wait for the big reveal! That's right.. all you get to see right now, is the bag! It could be days.. or weeks.. but you will get the big reveal of the very awesome that is in said bag!

Yikes.. long post.. go and have a coffee or some coke.
