"what the hell?!" is what I heard coming from Emma in the bathroom on Dec 22nd! That was the date of our first positive pregnancy test. Finally, after several years, we had reached the end of one journey and started the next. The next being the actual pregnancy! Which is a little more scary and also exciting than the trying to conceive part.
We didn't actually believe the test was correct, due to some circumstances, so we had to hold our excitement on reaching that goal for another day so we could do another test, which obviously was positive also! So yes! We did it! We are having a baby and now we just had to make it through the first trimester without telling anyone.. and being Christmas, that was a little harder than anything coz.. drinking of booze cannot be done. Which meant I didn't get to crack open the lovely bottle of berry wine we got from Vancouver Island.. oh well, there is always this Christmas! And this Christmas is going to be a doozy with a new baby and puppy in the family! My little 10 foot family! [link to photo]
So now we just have to get through the whole pregnancy thing, and you know buy, all the things that we will need to house a tiny little human and then come August we will have a tiny little human to gush over.
We, of course, will still be gushing over our handsome wee Mikkel! And speaking of, he got his first trim on the weekend! Actually it was a pretty big weekend for our little man, he went on a long car ride.. which was all kinds of adorable when he would poke his head up to say hello every now and then.. mostly he looked sad at being caged.
Then he had the big test of being surrounded by hundreds of dogs and people, and with that amount of people and dogs comes lots of noise. He handled it quite well I thought. Then he got to meet his sister, who he hasn't seen since the day we picked him up and she wasn't so happy to see him and attacked him. Several times. That girl has a bit of an attitude. He was saddened by that also.
Then came the trimming! He handled most of it well, but the head wasn't pleasant at all. My poor wee man cried a little. It was all worth it in the end coz he looks less rag doll and more spunky monkey now!
He slept pretty much the entire ride home.. as did I. It makes the long boring ride go by easier with ones eyes closed. Once we got home, we then noticed another milestone had been hit! Our little man had lost his first tooth!
Life with this little monkey is so damn rad. He does all the right things.. and a few of the wrong things but he is still a puppy! At the park last week, I was doing a test to see how he would react if he couldn't see me, so I hid behind a tree.. it was a big tree so yes, I could hide behind it. And then I poked my head out and I couldn't see him anymore and so of course I then freaked the fuck out that I had lost my dog, and it turned out he was standing at my feet right behind me, just looking up at me as if to say, what the fuck are you doin', lady?! Hahaha gold!
This morning it was pissing down, big thick and heavy drops! Mikkel was not impressed about having to go out to do his business in it, and actually started crying a little once he had done his business because we had to walk more in the bad nasty rain to the bin to throw out his business. Poor little monkey didn't like the rain, or well, this rain. He has been out in the rain before but never with it being this heavy and horrid. The bad weather continued throughout the day and he made swift work of business doings and just wanted back in again. Now however, it is just windy as all fuck, which means he looks like he is sky diving when we are out in it.. which doesn't impress him but is all kinds of hilarity! I love having a pup!
And now I shall leave you with a little video of Mikkel and his tail! [link to video]
