So as promised in my previous post (which has totally got me chuckling again over Nemo's face! He is just delicious sometimes!), I said that macaron foodporn was coming and so here we go!
Emma and I know how to splurge and when we do, we do it well! Life goes by far too swiftly to not take the time to splurge and live a little.. experiencing a little of the finer things in life makes it all worthwhile. Pierre Hermé macarons are definitely one of the finer things in life as well as worthwhile!
As you know from the previous post, if you read it that is.. we grabbed the new yoghurt flavours, as well as this months Jardin flavour and also.. a little pot of hazelnut spread. Which I will admit, I had no intention of trying coz well.. I am not a big hazelnut fan but I thought, what the heck! I'll put a little bit in my gob.. actually it was more.. Emma was moving the spoon at me and I thought the safest thing was to just try it! It was nice, I will give it that.. you can taste that it is made of quality ingredients but it is hazelnut and no matter how I try to swing it.. it is still just that. But, I tried it, knowing I wouldn't like it.. I still let it enter my mouth and I tasted it like I was a pro-taster! hahaha I will admit this tho, the tub it comes in is pretty neat even if it does look like it should contain some kind of make up! Ok, let us move on to the foodporn!
First up.. we have the flavour of the month, The Jardin Potager!
It was like eating a very fresh garden! A delicious mouthful of freshness!
Really what would you expect from a flavour combination of apple, mint, cucumber and arugula! I know I will be looking forward to having this one again next year when we buy the whole 2013 Jardin series!
Now for some heavy duty macaron foodporn.. seeing a bunch together! Contain yourselves people!
To break them down, we have Velouté Ispahan!
This is the soapy one of the bunch! Yep, you just knew we couldn't get away without having at least one soapy little mouthful of goodness! It is not a horrible soapy, it never is. This still had the yoghurt tartness with the added soft soapiness of rose, a little litchi and then to bring it together some raspberry. I quite liked the bite that the raspberry gave. Bite in two ways, flavour and texture!
Next up we have Velouté Banane!
Yoghurt and banana is a combo that I have always been a fan of and this macaron delivers just that.. perhaps I will start having these for breakfast instead of actual bananas and yoghurt? Can someone say balloooooon!?
What's next you ask? Well.. it's Velouté Framboise!
A simple clean yoghurt and raspberry.. there isn't much more to say about it really. I perhaps even enjoyed the soapy one slightly more than this one... I know! Say whaaaaat?!
Last but definitely not least! Let me introduce you to Velouté Citron Vert!
This is a rather delicious one.. so delicious in fact that we held the macaron upside down to take the photo.. I am guessing out of pure excitement! This one reminded us of a lemon & lime ice cream that we make from time to time. Tart and sweet and quite frankly, deliciousness! At first we were like, does it remind us of the caipirinha?.. which in a way I think it still does.. but the ice cream doesn't have that boozey taste so I think it wins the flavour comparison! Altho, I wouldn't mind getting all three things together and having a taste off!
And there you have it! The macarons we enjoyed over the weekend.. we didn't eat them all ourselves, we shared with the parentals.. we are piggish, but not that piggish! We enjoy sharing with people we like and are umm... grateful!
